The all too familiar delayed post we’ve seen from Cyberpunk 2077 is now here again. A game with so many Japanese historical mistakes has been delayed. Ubisoft has officially delayed its highly anticipated title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The news comes as no surprise. The game’s questionable development cycle, along with the growing scrutiny over its portrayal of Japanese history, is to blame.

Ubisoft took to social media to share the announcement. They stated, “We understand this decision will come as disappointing news, especially to those who’ve been waiting patiently for an Assassin’s Creed game inspired by Feudal Japan, but we sincerely believe this is in the best interest of the game, and ultimately your experience as a player.”

This delay echoes the haunting memories of other high-profile releases. Most notably, Cyberpunk 2077 faced its own challenges before hitting the market. Fans of the series have expressed a mix of frustration and joy. They recall the lessons learned from that launch. They also want this game to be canceled. Critics and gamers alike believe it disrespects Japanese lore by not adhering to it accurately. They criticize it for writing a scroll upside down in a new trailer. It also makes wrong translations in Japanese texts from preorder bonuses. The disrespect has made them cancel going to Tokyo to show off and host the game there. This embarrassing stand on what they think is correct makes games like Ghost of Tsushima stand out on top. They respect other cultures.
With the recent shutdown of Ubisoft’s classic game, The Crew, fans are skeptical. They question if they should even buy this new installment. Ubisoft is now known for taking away games players owned for years they bought online. The fans argued this is done for the sake of their own greedy desires. According to the fans, buying isn’t owning anymore.

As a result, many are hopeful that this delay cancel the game entirely. They hope it will create a more authentic game in the future. The development team has promised to take feedback into account. But, the game is still going to be pushed out next year. The developers aim to deliver a game that respects its source material. With these promises, we have to wait and see if it’s true. Only a miracle can make this game appealing by Feb 14, 2025.
